Filming for ‘Walnut Tree’ continues

Main characters for Walnut Tree to appear before camera.

Filming for Iranian feature ‘Walnut Tree’ continues in Tehran with the main characters set to appear before the camera tonight.

Mehran Modiri and Peyman Maadi will be appearing before the camera tonight in order to shoot additional scenes for director Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian’s latest project.

Based on a true story, ‘Walnut Tree’ is a film about the chemical bombings of a region in northwestern Iran by the US-backed former Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein.

Although no details have been released on the remaining cast members, the film is expected to host the largest number of actors compared to Mahdavian’s previous films, with Mina Sadati being the latest addition to the cast.

Produced by Mostafa Ahmadi, the film is completing the final stages of pre-production as it undergoes filming.

The unconventional methods used by Mahdavian in his fifth feature film, namely the addition of Mehran Modiri, an actor known for his comedic appearances, has drawn the interest of many audiences and critics alike.

One of Iran’s young, up and coming directors, Mahdavian is known for his award-winning film ‘Midday Adventures’ which earned two awards and nine nominations at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival.

The film’s sequel was also a highly successful hit, garnering three awards at the latest edition of the Fajr International Film Festival.
